"Steven Toney was exonerated of a 1982 rape by the DNA test a federal appellate court ruled he had a right to have conducted. The test results proved two eyewitnesses were mistaken. Centurion Ministeries was behind the campaign that resulted in his July 1996 release. Sentenced to two life terms. Wrongly imprisoned for 13 years and 10 months. Compensated with $242,450 by a revision to Missouri's wrongful compensation bill in July 2006, that paid him $50 per day of wrongful imprisonment. Compensation to be paid at a maximum rate of $35,600 per year until the entire principle is paid." |
