After being pressured into falsely confessing, Town falsely pled guilty to charges related to child sexual abuse to limit his prison time. The sons of his that were the alleged victims are mentally slow. To appease prosecutors and avoid being wrongly imprisoned for however long the appeals process would continue to take, he was released from prison in June 2000 after entering an Alford plea to an unrelated misdemeanor of violating a protection order."
