"Frank Trasco was a salesman for a wholesale butcher wrongly convicted in 1935 of theft for misappropriating $265 from his employer in Garden City, New York. Trasco's conviction was based on the testimony of a co-worker. Trasco was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment. As Trasco was nearing the end of his sentence the witness confessed he committed perjury at Trasco's trial. Based on the new evidence he had been falsely identified, Trasco's conviction was overturned on May 19, 1936, his indictment was dismissed, and he was released from prison."
