"Jamal Trulove was wrongly convicted in 2010 of first-degree murder in San Francisco, California. After his conviction by a jury, Trulove was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison. He was acquitted on March 11, 2015 following a retrial. Trulove filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of San Francisco and police officers involved in his prosecution. On March 19, 2019 the San Francisco Board of Supervisors approved a settlement agreement of the lawsuit for $13.1 million. The settlement agreement was for more than $2 million for the slightly more than 6-1/3 years Trulove spent in custody."
