"George Keith Twitchell was wrongly convicted on February 26, 1982 of manslaughter and robbery in the death of George Smith in November 1980 in Birmingham, England. Twitchell was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was refused leave to appeal his conviction. He was released in February 1993. The Criminal Cases Review Commission referred Twitchell's case to the Court of Appeal in January 1998. His convictions were quashed by the Court of Appeal on October 26, 1999."
