Summary of Case:	"Leslie Andre Vass was wrongly convicted of armed robbery in 1975. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. In 1985 a witness came forward with evidence that Vass was not the robber. Vass' conviction was vacated and he was released after 10 years of wrongful imprisonment. Vass sued for compensation and was awarded $250,000 in 1987, to be paid in installments over eight years. Vass also obtained a court order to have his record expunged. Afte Maryland law enforcement authorities failed to obey the court order, Vass obtained a second expungement order. After that order was also ignored, Vass then filed a lawsuit against the State of Maryland for its failure to expunge his criminal record. He was awarded $50,000 in damages in 1999, and another order for expungement of his record. In 2004 Vass was arrested for allegedly stabbing a person. Based on his unexpunged record he was held without bail for a year pending his trial. He was acquitted in 2005 and released. 21 years after his release the record of Vass' wrongful conviction still had not been expunged from law enforcement databases."
