Summary of Case:

Damaso Vega was wrongly convicted of the 1982 murder of his best friends 16 year-old daughter. At a post-conviction evidentiary hearing in 1989 the State's three primary witnesses all recanted their trial testimony implicating Damaso Vega as the murderer. A NJ Superior Ct judge freed Mr. Vega in November 1989 after ruling the three witnesses had perjured themselves at his trial.
