Summary of Case:	"Eduardo Velasquez, aka Angel Hernandez, was wrongly convicted in 1988 of a December 9, 1987 rape in Hampden County, Massachusetts. Velasquez (who at the time was known as Angel Hernandez, which was the name he was prosecuted under) was arrested the night of the rape based on the victim's identification. A DNA test in 2001 excluded Velasquez as the woman's attacker, and his conviction was vacated. He was released after more than 13 years of wrongful imprisonment. In August 2005, Velasquez became one of the first three people awarded compensation by the State of Massachusetts under its wrongful conviction compensation statute. He was awarded the maximum of $500,000. Valasquez settled his federal civil rights lawsuit against the city of Chicopee in November 2005 for $2,450,000."
