Summary of Case:	"Ryun David Wahlgren was wrongly convicted of failure to register as a sex offender in Harris County, Texas. Ryun Wahlgren pled guilty and was sentenced to two years in prison. After his conviction Wahlgren learned that he wasn't required under Texas law to register as a sex offender -- and that his lawyer should have known it at the time he pled guilty. Wahlgren filed a writ of habeas corpus that asserted his plea wasn't voluntary, which the State didn't oppose and that the trial court recommended be granted. On September 13, 2017 the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals granted Wahlgren's writ and set-aside his conviction. Wahlgren also pled guilty to failing to register as a sex offender in Dallas County, Texas, when he in fact wasn't required to register. His writ of habeas corpus to withdraw his guilty plea in that case was granted by by the TX Ct. of Appeals on April 26, 2017."
