Summary of Case:

"Kenneth Neal Walker and Shelley Walker were a married couple and codefendants wrongly convicted of intentionally or knowingly causing serious bodily injury to their two-year-old adopted daughter Bridget, on February 28, 2012 at their apartment in Tyler, Texas. Their prosecution was based on testimony that Bridget had second-degree burns to both of her feet that were allegedly caused by them putting her feet in scalding hot water in a bathtub. After their convictions by a jury, Kenneth Walker and Shelley Walker were both sentenced to 25 years in prison. Their convictions were affirmed on appeal. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals accepted discretionary review of their convictions. On October 19, 2016 the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals vacated the convictions of Kenneth Walker and Shelley Walker based on the prosecution's failure to introduce sufficient evidence to prove their guilt of every essential element beyond a reasonable doubt."
