Summary of Case:

"Colin Warner was wrongly convicted in 1982 of a murder committed on April 10, 1980 in New York City. Warner was arrested on April 11, 1980. Warner's first trial endedin a mistrial, but he was convicted of second-degree murder after his retrial in May 1982. Warner's co-defendant Norman Simmonds confessed in a deposition he acted alone, which resulted in the Kings County DA's Office reopening the case in 2000 and finding additional evidence exculpating Warner. Based on the new evidence Warner filed a motion for a new trial that wasn't opposed by the DA's Offfice. Warner's conviction was vacated on January 31, 2001, and he was released the next day, on February 1, 2001. Warner was wrongly imprisoned almost almost 21 years of wrongful imprisonment.
