Summary of Case:	"Calvin Edward Washington was co-defendant of Joe Sidney Williams. The men were tried separately, but both men were wrongly convicted in 1987 of the 1986 rape and murder of a Waco, Texas woman. Calvin Washington and Joe Williams were exonerated in 2001 when new evidence in the form of DNA tests proved neither Washington nor Williams had raped White and that blood on a shirt prosecutors said belonged to Washington was not White's. Washington was released from prison on July 5, 2001 after more than 15 years of wrongful incarceration. Calvin Washington was pardoned by Texas Governor Rick Perry on April 5, 2001. He received $374,999 in compensation under Texas' compensation law for wrongly convicted defendants."
