Summary of Case:

"Joseph Dean Webber was wrongly convicted on November 1, 2007 of 13 charges, including armed robbery, forcible confinement and extortion, related to a November 2006 hom invasion in Bayham, Ontario, Canada. Webber's conviction was based on the victim's identification of him as one of their two assailants. There was no other evidence linking Webber to the crime. After Webber was convicted after a 3 day bench trial, the judge sentenced him on Feb. 8, 2008 to 7-1-2 years in prison. He was released on bail pending appeal on June 28, 2008 after 2 men confessed to the crime and that Webber wasn't involved. On January 6, 2010 the Ontario Court of Appeals acquitted Webber based on the new evidence he had no involvement in the crime and that his conviction was based on his misidenfication by the victims.
