Summary of Case:	"John Jerome White was wrongly convicted in July 1980 of the 1979 rape of a 74-year-old woman, based on the victim's eyewitness identification of White from a line-up of five men. John White was sentenced to life in prison. White was released on parole in 1990 after 10 years in prison. He was convicted of a drug crime and a robbery while on parole. His parole was revoked in 1997 and he served an additional 12.5 years in prison. White's wrongful conviction was a factor in the length of his imprisonment for the crimes committed while he was on parole. The charges were dismissed on December 11, 2007 after DNA excluded him as the woman's attacker. White was wrongly imprisoned for more than 10 years prior to his parole, and he served about an extra 10 years for his additional charges because the wrongful rape conviction was on his record, so he served approximately 20 years of wrongful imprisonment. On April 3, 2009 the Georgia General Assembly approved $500,000 compensation to be paid out in monthly payments over 20 years, that amounts to $2,083 monthly."
