Summary of Case:

"Charles Wilhite was wrongly convicted in 2010 of murder in a fatal shooting that occurred outside a grocery store in Springfield, Massachusetts in 2008. Wilhite's prosecution was based on eyewitness testimony. After his conviction by a jury Wilhite was sentenced to life imprisonment. Wilhite's conviction was overturned based on the recantation of two eyewitnesses. Wilhite was acquitted after his retrial in 2013. After his release from prison Wilhite filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Springfield. In December 2016 the City of Springfield agreed to settle his lawsuit for $1,400,000."
