Summary of Case:	"Gregory R. Wilhoit was wrongly convicted of murdering his wife from whom he had been separated for three weeks, in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 31, 1985. Key evidence was forensic testimony that Wilhoit's teeth matched bite marks on his wife. He was sentenced to death. Wilhoit was awarded a new trial by the Oklahoma Court of Appeal on the basis of new evidence by 11 forensic experts that the bite marks on his wife did not match Wilhoit's teeth. After the prosecution presented its case during his retrial the judge ordered a directed verdict of not guilty on the basis the prosecution had not presented evidence proving every essential element beyond a reasonable doubt. Wilhoit filed a federal civil rights lawsuit that was dismissed. Likewise, the State of Oklahoma denied Gregory Wilhoit's claim for compensation. Wilhoit died in his sleep on February 13, 2014."
