Summary of Case:	"Mike Wilkerson was wrongly convicted of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in her home in Jasper County, Missouri. Wilkerson's prosecution was based on his identification by the victim from a line-up. Wilkerson pled not guilty by reason of insanity, and after his conviction he was ordered committed to mental institutions. In 2016 Wilkerson's insanity plea was vacated. That resulted in reinvestigation by the Jasper County authorities of crime related evidence, including DNA testing of a condom used by the young woman's assailant and a cigarette butt. The DNA tests excluded Wilkerson as the perpetrator. On June 21, 2017 the Jasper County District Attorney's motion to dismiss the charges against Wilkerson based on the new exclusionary DNA evidence was granted, and he was freed from custody."
