Summary of Case:

"George Williams was codefendant of Frank Dove and Fred Dove, who were all wrongly convicted of first-degree murder. All three were sentenced to death. On the morning of his execution in 1923 a fourth codefendant whose testimony was the sole evidence against them, admitted he had perjured himself to implicate the three men under the coercive threats of the police. In 1928 the three men received an unconditional pardon from North Carolina's Governor Angus McLean."
