Summary of Case:

"Marrio D'Shane Willis was wrongly convicted of the March 23, 2003, armed robbery of an E Z-Mart in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Willis was a former employee of E Z-Mart, and he was first identified by a district manager as the robber in a surveillance video. The clerk on duty, who was at first reluctant to identify Willis as the robber, eventually agreed it was him. Willis was convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. At a November 2005 hearing, the clerk officially recanted his testimony, saying that his identification of Willis was pressured by the police, and that another man was the actual robber. The judge denied Willis' petition for a new trial, but on April 6, 2006, the Oklahoma Court of Crimina Appeal reversed Willis conviction. The Court ruled that without the clerk's identification there was insufficient evidence to support Willis' conviction. On April 25, 2006, the prosecutor dropped the charges against Willis and he was released that day from custody. Willis was wrongly imprisoned for three years."
