Summary of Case:	"Wrongly convicted in March 2003 of allegedly trying to smuggle 19 Iraqi Kurds into Greece. David Wilson, a British citizen, was sentenced to 11 years in prison and fined £47,000. David Wilson was tried, convicted and sentenced within 24 hours of his arrest under Greece's fast-track legal system. Wilson claimed that unbeknownst to him the people had boarded his truck when it was parked waiting for a ferry to Greece, and all of the Kurds backed his claim. Based on the evidence casting doubt on his guilt, Wilson's conviction was quashed in January 2004. After nine weeks imprisonment in conditions that he described as straight out of the movie Midnight Express, Wilson had been released on £20,000 bail raised by supporters in England. Financially ruined by his ordeal, the 47 year-old Wilson became despondent and committed suicide by hanging himself at his home in Oakenshaw, UK, in late November 2006."
