Summary of Case:

"Lord Wilson was wrongly convicted in 2012 of heroin and cocaine delivery charges in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. The prosecution presented a circumstantial case during Wilson's trial because there was no physical evidence of his guilt. After the jury found him guilty Wilson was sentenced in 2013 to 19 years in prison to be followed by 12 years of extended supervision after his release. Wilson filed a post-trial motion for a new trial that alleged there was insufficient evidence to support his conviction and the jury wasn't given an instruction it could convict of lesser charges based on a less amount of drugs. On May 27, 2015 Winnebago County Circuit Judge Daniel Bissett granted Wilson's motion and ordered his acquittal based on insuffiicent evidence. Bissett ordered Wilson's immediate release from prison, and he was released later that day after four years in custody. On July the Wisconsin Attorney General's Office announced it would not appeal Judge Bissett's ruling becaues the Winnebago County DA's Office conceeded there was insufficient evidence to sustain Wilson's conviction.
