"Teng Xingshan was wrongly convicted in 1988 in China of the rape, robbery, and murder of Shi Xiaorong, a woman who had disappeared. Teng Xingshan was sentenced to death after his conviction in the Huaihua Intermediate People's Court. Xingshan was executed on January 28, 1989. In 1993 Xiaorong returned to her village, telling people she had been kidnapped and taken to Shandong. Teng Xingshan was officially declared innocent and posthumously acquitted in 2005."
