Summary of Case:

"Imad Eddin Barakat Yarkas, Driss Chebli, Sadik Merizak, and Abdelaziz Benyaich were co-defendants wrongly convicted in Spain of conspiracy to commit murder in the September 11, 2001 attacks in the U.S. Sentenced to 15 years in prison. Spain's High Court quashed Yarkas' conviction because of a lack of evidence. Prosecutors didn't oppose the quashing of Yarkas' conviction, saying the evidence against him was "weak and inconsistent." His conviction for belonging to a terror organization (al Qaeda) was left standing, for which he was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment."
