Summary of Case:	"Jonathan Zealand was wrongly convicted in 1998 of murder and sentenced to 18 years in prison in South Africa. Zealand's conviction was overturned by the Grahamstown High Court on August 23, 1999. The registrar of the court failed to issue a warrant for Jonathan Zealand's release, so he remained a convicted prisoner until his eventual release in December 2004. Zealand sued and in October 2008 the Port Elizabeth High Court awarded him R2,508,000 -- R2,000,000 for general damages for wrongful imprisonment, R8,000 for psychological counseling, and R500,000 in interest. The award equaled US$255,553 at an exchange rate of one rand to .1018 US on October 29, 2008."
