"William Zepeda, Argelia Maritza Diaz and Gabriela J. Diaz were co-defendants. LAPD officer Rafael Perez admitted during the investigation of the LAPD for corruption that he framed Zepeda, Argelia Diaz and Gabriela Diaz becaue he didn't see them selling any drugs and he did not obtain their permission to search their apartment. Their convictions were overturned on March 23, 2000. Zepeda filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles and the LAPD that the Los Angeles City Council voted on February 19, 2002 to agree to settle for $475,000."
