"One of three co-defendants wrongly convicted in February 2009 of embezzling assets from his business partner in a software company. His partner was the woman who took over the interest in the company of her brother, after he died. Khalifa Bakheet al-Falasi, was removed from his post as the United Arab Emirates' Minister of State when he was criminally charged in 2008. al-Falasi and his two co-defendants, who also worked with the software company, were sentenced in April 2009 to two years in prison. On May 28, 2009 Dubai's appeals court acquitted al-Falaski and his two co-defendants."
